Alright, I Really Need Your Help - Another Band Name Thread

Sign in to disble this ad
OK, I find myself in a position where it's hard for me to figure out a band name. So, I ask my bretheren and sisteren of TB to help out.

I have a 4 piece Country band with a young female vocalist and killer guitar player. We're talking Brad Paisley/Vince Gill good and almost Danny Gatton/Brent Mason good. We do modern Country music like Zac Brown, Dixie Chicks, Martina McBride, Band Perry, Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban, you get the idea. Most of the material is from 1990 til today.

So let's hear some band names.

Can't help you with a name, but I'm jealous of the gig!

Sounds like a great project with huge earning potential.

I'm jealous too, how I wish I could play nothing but country for a whole gig.

Do you need a name, though? I mean in country just using the singer's name is standard procedure. Well, unless your singer has a name that's a good name but it's not a name for a country singer, it's a name for a figure skater. (That's a Ray Wylie Hubbard joke) In that case, I'd go with The Western Rattlesnacks, but I love stupid band names. From your list, I like Outlaw Inlaws best.

Magnolia Road +1

The shotgun stuff sounds too much like hillbilly music. The Moonshiners like bluegrass.

Magnolia Road sounds the most "Pro" for some reason.

I like these two best, Sister Shotgun more than CBS.

My suggestion:

Garrison's Whipping Post

Oh, and sorry guys, but Magnolia Road sucks, and sounds really boring.

We're named after the switch on the blender at one of the bars we work at. Silverswitchband.com We've used Midnight Moonlight, Prairie Fire, Southbound, and various other names over the past 48 years, and I'm not sure the name really made much difference. The music is what counts.

I don't want to name the band after the singer because the singer's name isn't that Country sounding, and we don't want the band to be all about her. In case we get a sub, or need a replacement, I don't want to have to start a band over again. I want to keep and build the brand name, regardless of players.

Looking for a name easy to spell, catchy, and not taken that points out that we are a female fronted country band with some edge.

Troll Snot.

It has kind of a Scandinavian feel to it, but I always wanted to be in a band called Troll Snot.
