Am I A Bad Person If...

Sign in to disble this ad
If I use the fact that my guitarist/keyboardist/composer/greatest musical gift to mankind has just started dating the girl I was (am) in love with as leverage to persuade him to play some music I may actually enjoy? Less Soilwork, more Saxon? Or is that just unfair exploitation of a situation?

Wait, you used the fact that he got the girl you were after to guilt trip him into playing something different? I'm just trying to get the story right.

Wait... I saw this movie.

You'll get your chance when Romeo ends up wasting away in rehab/prison and you swoop in to console(bang) her. But even though you profess your love for her, she goes back to the wasted bum.

Damn! That sucks.

Gotcha. I don't know if it would make you a bad person per se, but I have a feeling that this will invariably lead to more drama than you will care to deal with. If that happens, I expect a thread about it so we can all say we told you so

Didn't Fleetwood Mac have this issue? I think they were torn between Soilwork and Saxon too! Wow, small world.

OP, I need to hear what sort of logical argument you could possibly come up with that would convince your friend at all that your feelings for his girlfriend should dictate the style of music he plays.

Also, you should look for a new band. Also, ask him politely to keep his private life with her private.

FMB,
If someone came to you and said "You are an incredible musician and I am madly in love with your girlfriend. Now, lets get down to changing the format of the band to what I want" , you wouldn't immediately agree to whatever he suggested? Wow, you must be tough to work with.

Ok, it may have come across as if I'm jsut a whiny, jealous so-and-so, but my original question was whether it's acceptable to use the position I'm in (we're in) to try and gain a foothold in the musical direction of the band?

No, I got that part. I just don't see how you plan to do so. He's more than likely going to get peeved at you for mentioning it than be willing to change the band because you like his girlfriend.

I don't think I'd be so oblique, just kinda hint at the situation as a whole and my impending depression...

Anyway, he knew about me having a thing for her long before he even became interested.
