Chalk it up as experience.I'm quite sure that, people have already been warned about this guy,....so you probably wouldn't have to say anything more! However,if he's as bad as you say he is,then one more warning couldn't hurt.In the meantime, let this be a learning experience for you,and be sure that you and your next managerial candidate are on the same page.Just remember,....he works for YOU,....not the other way around! Peace!

I think I'm going to go for an established outfit next time...or a proper agency.

Least then everything will be nice and legal and if anything does go wrong, I'm covered.

If you were a customer, and the transaction went poorly, post the details. Folks are overstating the defamation concerns -- don't make stuff up about the business, post the details, and post your opinions (obviously don't say something like "in my opinion, he was sodomizing cats instead of building my bass").

There is no high road here -- this is simple free-market capitalism. You'd be every bit justified sending your experiences and opinions to the BBB, or Angie's List. They're a business. If they're a bad business, by sharing the bad experience you enable the purchasing community to make clear its displeasure by steering their business elsewhere. And that in turn puts appropriate pressure on the business to improve -- so play your part and feel like a good US citizen

Side, yet related rant-

This thread seems ridiculous. You`re acting like a friend of mine who`s known to do things like, "I know this about someone and it`s important... but I`m not going to tell you because I don`t feel like it." It just seems like you want attention from everyone and you are wasting everyones time because you don`t actually know anything worth telling to begin with.
You know what one of the best things about online discussion forums is? The freedom to look at a thread, decide it is a waste of your time, and ignore it.

She's looking for advice. She's getting advice.

Period.

look, this is England... people aren't as litigious here as in some other countries... I doubt legal action would take place even if she wrote 'producer man is a doodoo head' on his house

anyway... I don't think Fassa should do anything, because it's a waste of energy on something negative... gotta move on... idiots have a life sentence of being an idiot

and you risk being seen as a whiner by people - it's not worth your time and energy, and if you think it IS, you need to place a higher value on your time and energy

Chock it up to experience and be wary the next time. He sounds like he is well on his way to becoming unemployed anyway. I would not go out on a campaign to bash him, but if anyone asks about him then simply tell them of your dealings with him and go on.

Something else to consider here. I don't want to make any assumptions about the OP, except what I can guess from reading posts.

In the future, it would be worth considering what someone like a "producer" can realistically do for you, based on what level you have reached as a musician. If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Except for rare exceptions, there are no shortcuts into the music business, and anybody who takes your money is probably ripping you off.

"Don't ask, don't tell"...LOL!

Seriously, that is the best policy she can follow, here. Unless someone *asks* her about the guy, she should not say anything.

Oh the lawsuits that have been won because the defendant actually believed that putting "allegedly" in front a libelous accusation meant something.

It doesn't protect anyone if they are stating a factual assertion, or even a mixture of fact and opinion. Only pure opinion is protected and it can take years and thousands (hundreds of thousands) to prove the statement does not include some basis in fact.

To recap...allegedly does not protect the speaker...AT ALL.
