Alright everyone, our new Country Band needs a name. We have 4 or 5 gigs lined up and no name. If you want to help us choose one then please vote.

I agree. And Stringtown Road would be my last choice, and not just because it’s less marque friendly.

Keep it short and sweet- the band will sell the band.

I disagree, I love stringtown road, but then I always like place names as band names. I think the other two are a little cliché, but maybe that's what you're going for.

I liked Stringtown Road the best, it just jumped out at me first. It has a real nice sound for a country band.

Then after checking, I especially like it because there are no Google hits for a search on "Stringtown Road Band." Searching the others, however, produced a long list of bands using those two names. I would really want to pick one that's a unique name for a band, just to avoid Google confusion for fans. But you already have that: Stringtown Road!

Good luck!

Gee, Chris, wish I'd thought of that. In that case, change my vote to Stringtown Road as well.

Either way, it's a better name than my two bands: Snagglepus, and Polished Cement.

I think Hired Guns is cool but maybe not for a country band.

I would stay away from a band name with "Train" in it since there happens to be a very huge band called "Train" that has been around for quite awhile and who has not heard "Hey, Soul Sister" a thousand times the past 1-1-/2 years.

Hired Guns is lame. Anyone who knows the meaning of the term will naturally assume that you lot can't be arsed being a real band. And what if you end up with a fantastically talented singer? You will end up being "Billy Rifle and The Hired Guns". Lame

Fast Train needs some support from the music. Are you playing "yee-haw" country with fiddles and banjoes? Cos that's the picture I get in my head from the name.

Stringtown Road is the most diverse and obtuse choice. You could play modern country or traditional with that name. The trick would be to ensure that you market your sound to suit your name, or vise versa.

You need to think like the people you want at your gigs. When they see the gig listing in the local paper, or see your flyers, you need to make sure you are selling your gig to them at their level. Do they want to see a band called ________?

Ok we are rehearsing for our second gig Tuesday and will decide on a name then so feel free to continue voting until then.

We need a name because our first gig went really well. The venue paid us an extra hundred, it led to several other gigs, and a bunch of people asked about the next gig and said they would be there.

Stringdown Road sounds like it was inspired by something. The other ones sound like average overused bar band names.
