Hello TBers,
My band is having some problems and our singer always complains about how she can't hear herself and that it is our problem. I keep telling her it's the sound guy who needs to fix her levels, and maybe she should do some research on live sound etc.

TB has always been there for me and I was wondering if there is a community like this but specifically for lead vocalists. I figure her talking with others will give her ideas and maybe provide her with some initiative to do things for herself. Thank you!

I'd imaging there are a ton of lead singer forums... although they probably haven't gotten around to actually launching them.

Face it, singers are babies. Tell your singer to either have the FOH (or monitor tech) adjust levels until she can hear herself. The alternative would be investing in some in-ear monitors.

yeah... it sucks working with people like these. We've had meetings with her too, telling her to purchase some in ears. She gets mad. (sigh)

Tell her to buy a monitor and aim it at herself. Till then, hush and sing. If she's already using a monitor, have her nicely ask for more highs and to cut the bass in her monitor and see if that helps. Maybe put her monitor up on a stand?

sounds like you have a long aggrevating learning curve about singers.

This stuff should be squelched before it's started.

I don't think so. Why would singers take advice from anybody?

Love the forums here and have to say up front that is why joined... but just a lead singer here so had to put in my 2 cents.

Over the years Ive had to get with my sound guy and my band members to prove to them that a lower stage volume gives the sound guy a lot more to work with and usually a way better live pa sound.

With that said, some bands think on the volume knob level 10 isn't just there for looks LOL... but I have found that over the years Ive gotten use to keying on my band members and not on my vocals I think just from practice sessions where vocals are hard to hear anyway.
I'm so tuned into the guitar that if he breaks a string and goes off key... so do I LOL
