I'm currently in a praise band with my son, who is our drummer. So he and I comprise the rhythm section. We have a blast, and he defers to my age, because he says, "I'll lock in with you, Dad." Anyone else in a band with relatives?

I got out of the last project we did together before he did, and he really didn't want to play with the guitar player I had in the band I was putting together. Now, the guitar player is gone, and we are both playing in established bands. I do miss playing with him, but one of these days, I'm sure we'll be rocking the retirement home rec room together! |

Play with my twin brother (who plays drums) and my older brother who plays electric violin and his wife (ie my sister-in-law) plays keys. I know some family just can't do it but it has and does work great (just celebrated our 10th year as a band. |

We get together most weekends and play from the Real Book. Standards mostly. Started with my dad when I was 14. He had a 7 piece combo in the 60-70's. We get along pretty darn good. Been swinging along. |

He and I get along well - usually its the other people that cause trouble We're always talking about putting something together. It's mostly talk though because we work different schedules. |

I play in a band with my brother (I'm on bass, he's on guitar-we split the vox) and it's worked out better than any other band I've been in so far (creatively at least). Not nearly as much arguing as the group I was in prior. The only problem is we had to lose our drummer (a good friend of mine) because his level of committment isn't the same as ours. |

Whenever I'm home from school we jam and it's fine, and I've been in one-off ska projects of his, but mostly it's just us jamming and sitting in with my band. He's older now though (17) and we get along better.

Large family bands are very popular in the genre...I actually have sat in watching rehearsals of these folks and it's truly amazing. Some of the kids just are SMOKIN on the fiddles. LITTLE kids. Amazing.

Also in the band on guitar and vocals is my cousin, who got us all started playing many years ago. We never argue, but we do have a lot of fun.
My brother is trying to get a few more gigs this year. This may be a problem with my country band, which works most weekends.

He is a drummer and I do miss his style of play, even though the drummer I play with now is plenty good.

I've been hoping for a while that when my brother -a guitarrist- finishes his post gradulate work he will move to Chicago so we can do some gigging and writing. |
