It uses "cloud" technology to store and access files real-time. He started the program then sent an invite to the other band members to download the program and join his "cloud". Next thing, the two of us are simultaneously posting files and can see what the other is doing.
Now our band has a real-time repository of material to access and we don't have to waste time e-mailing each other.

I use it to pass files back and forth and to keep files synced between my laptop and tower...record on the tower, rough-edit all over the place on my laptop. No work required on my part to keep them synced! One more tool in the toolbox. |

Be careful who you share out too though, as I found out when friends dumped in huge files into the shared folder, it can block your access and in one case my friends files were deleted from his (non shared) account (although this was probably due to user error....)
Another thing that is great with dropbox: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1259474/Millions.mp3
Any file you place in the "Public" folder it automatically creates a link to. |

The only annoyance I've found is that, sometimes, double-clicking on some of the public links I've sent to friends gives a 404 error. They must copy/paste the link in a new browser window/tab for it to work properly. Other than that, I'm very happy with it. |
