Anyone ever get booted from a band because you were having a baby?

Yeah just happend to me. Didn't get kicked out per se. The other 3 band members just went on CL found some other dudes to jam with and formed a new project and failed to tell me and my brother, who was in the band but having to take a month off due to getting married.

What the heck is wrong with people?? How hard is it to say to me what they want to do because I have to take some time off with a newborn, I would have understood. Sad thing is a real good friend of mine of 30 years was part of this mutany! It's just a freakin cover band, not like we were going on tour anytime soon. But they just ended any chance of me gigging before having the baby.

These flakey musicians never cease to amaze me.

I've had a couple bands dissolve due to a member having a kid... never before the birth though.

I had a bandmate that we almost kicked out because he didn't bathe frequently enough. We told him: "If you don't shower before next rehearsal, don't bother to show up."

A lot of local musicians out here have reproduced and continue rockin'. I am surprised about your mutiny... seeing as how it didn't look like they were hoping to "make it."

If anything count yourself lucky to not be around ******** like that.

Whilst I haven't had that happen, I did have a good friend and drummer in an original band ask me how I was going to keep being a member of the band now that I was getting married.

These kind of questions and actions say more about the people asking them than they do about you and events in your life.

Either you're a musician, working hard at your craft or you're not. Bono from U2 has four kids. I doubt the others in that band gave him any grief over it. Also, a guitarist I've had the honour of working with, and consider to be one of the best musicians in Ireland - Des Moore, has nine kids - all raised on a musicians wage.

Get back on the horse and find someone else to gig with. Coming home from late night gigs to changing nappies is quite a culture shock, as I've just found out

And congratulations too!!!

Must not be that good of friend. I'd call him on it. Let them all know how chicken @@@@ their treatment of you and your brother is. Then move on. Forget about it. Living in the past is the path to unhappiness. Never do business with them again.

Concentrate on your family and taking care of your business. If you want to gig, find some other guys and go on from there.

Good luck.

Well yeah, but it was mostly because I got blood and amniotic fluid all over the guitarist's pedalboard, and the baritone sax accidentally sucked in the afterbirth.

They were not cool about it at all.

Oh yeah he already got an earfull from me...but it isn't too bad where a few dozen crown and cokes can't fix, he totally handled this like a jack*** and I let him know it. He called me still wanting to jam with the drummer (I think this new project isn't panning out as he had hoped) but I think it may have been just an attempt to save face a little. Me and my bro are not doing it..it just isn't the same. We are still friends, just not bandmates.

You know what, you're right, My guess is It won't be your last one either. Things happen for a reason, sometimes you just never know the reason

Granted that was some douchebaggery, but it also sounds like you'll do better elsewhere.

It's all good

Wife just called me on her cell phone from the nurses visit. She held the phone up and I could hear my baby's heartbeat for the very first time. Wow I am still flabergasted!

There will be many other wonders to behold. Enjoy each one and stand in awe as a new life enters the world. The band will become a distant memory and I predict you'll be happy that you have more time to spend with your wife and child.

My friends kicked the bassist out of their band because he went and had a kid. But he's like 18 and had to work full time and always be home by 6:00.
