Not Broadway, but a lot of my playing hours in college at the University of Texas were in pits. I played in seven or eight productions over three years, most were eight to twelve-week runs with one show each day plus matinees on weekends, with one dark day. I was a jazz guy, but these were nice, solid, long-ish well-paying gigs that I was happy to have. I made friends with an Austin producer-composer who was connected in the theater circle, so it sort of happened to me by fate.
Pay- most of the Broadway players are local 802 members, so they get scale. There is a lot of relevant information on
this local 802 page. It looks like the gross weekly wage is $1539 if you do not double. Or $192 per performance.
