ok, i know it is normal for the bassist not to be appreciated. however, in my current band i feel like i am the least recognized in EVERYHING pertaining to the band. lke compliments, news about gigs, comments about what we can improve on. like, our lead singer was talking to someone, i was right there, and she even acknowledged me. than, she goes on to turn her back and tell HIM what we should work on, completely ignoring me! stuff like that.

I've been playing for a LONG time, and this has usually been the case. I don't think many band members truly have a good idea of what bass is or is supposed to do.

At first I didn't like it that I was the one that no one had any suggestions for. However, I realized that actually what it meant was that my choices and playing were solid, and not causing problems.

So try to look at it that way. If you need constant praise and attention, become a lead singer!
