ATTENTION - CHICAGO PLAYERS

Sign in to disble this ad
My wife recently accepted a job opportunity out of state that is simply too good for us to pass up, and as a result we will be making the move from home base in Chicago to Minneapolis at the end of February.

Unfortunately, this means I'll be forced to leave my longtime group Undercover - and the band has already lined up a full summertime calendar in Wrigleyville for after home Cubs games (Friday and Saturday afternoons). Probably about 35 to 40 dates, all nicely paying, and the crowds LOVE this band. It's going to be tough to leave...but I want to do my best to hook the guys up with a suitable replacement.

Here's the rundown on the gig...

---Setlist averages about 65-75 songs per night, somewhere in the neck of about three to four hours, so the ability to stay in the pocket and completely focused for extended lengths of time is crucial.

---You should be able to play fingerstyle, slap, and with a pick.

---Tunes are generally 70s/80s classic danceable rock covers. Eagles, Bon Jovi, Men at Work, Springsteen, jukebox favorites that drunken sports fans love.

---Lineup is acoustic guitar/vocalist, percussionist and the bass (bass plays a big role in filling out the sound of this group), so you gotta have a clearly defined tone that you can control.

---The gig is a full run at a bar in the heart of Wrigleyville, so easy access to this extremely crowded part of town is key.

---The band starts to play IMMEDIATELY at the end of the last inning.

---Bass player will need to provide his own backline (no PA support for bass). A powerful combo or well-powered 2x10 should suffice.

---Flexibility and the ability to fake are key, as ownership often requests additional time for the band to play depending on how the crowd is responding.

If you are interested in taking over the bass chair, please let me know!
