Im doing a project for school where i have to research all the various aspects of audio engineering (including: Live Sound Reproduction, Theater Sound engineering, and recording).
Does anyone know of any great resources, either in print or online, that i can use to gather information?
Also, is anyone on here a professional (read, work for a large company) that deals with any of these aspects? Part of the project is that we need to interview someone who works for a somewhat large company (not just them and/or a few people).
Thanks for your help, and sorry if this is in the wrong spot. |

Thanks for your help, and sorry if this is in the wrong spot. | I have freelanced for many large studios in Toronto as well, run my own booming biz, on top of recordings and performance.
May not be exactely what you need, but a good "back up plan"
Happy to help....BTW, search around here, and google stuff, try homerecording.com (I think)

There are a lot of articles on PSW which you should find useful. Also, the forums there are full of interesting discussion with many 'big names'.
Just because a person works for a small company doesnt make them any less a professional If you need any help then I work for a PA Hire company and a mobile recording studio setup.

They always seem to be rushing, panicking and stressing.

| I have contracts with a couple of the larger companies in the world (yeah you know 'em) for ongoing Audio Video work.
Part of the stress comes from the fact that the upper mgt folk can't handle pressing the arrow key for the next slide in their PowerPoint.. that's just way too much to ask of them.

If anyone could answer these questions (the more people the better). if you haev a problem giving me more personal info via pm (i just need a real name for the citation), then dont bother.
1) How are you involved in sound engineering?
2) Do you engineer sound as a career?
3) What do you think are the most important elements in sound engineering?
4) What would be the best way for a person to get started in sound engineering?
5) What is the importance of live sound?
6) Whats the best thing for a person to know when they begin engineering live sound?
7) One final tip for the budding engineer: |

| | | | Take a phonebook, look up local recording studios. Call, and ask if the sound engineer has time for a technical interview (make sure you prepare questions ahead of time, and are able to make a recording of the conversation). | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
