For some reason Euros crave that beyond all reason. In short, if you tour elsewhere you'll find that being DIRECT FROM AUSTIN, TEXAS is better than being IN Austin, Tx. | It works in the states too.... |

Actually, we made those shirts when we played SXSW. Gave them to friends, inside joke stuff. |

Austin killed my love of playing out years ago, but then I haven't been happy in a band for a long time either. When I first moved here I used to go watch bands all the time, now half of them sound like SRV clones and none of the rest have inspired me since Little Sister used to play at the Black Cat. What happened to fun music?

Anywhere david cotton books is the place to be momos, threadgils, antones, continental club, and a few others. Not only are they great venues, people will have a good time if you give them a reason. Austin is a lot more friendly in the musicians circle than other cities like nashville that put out a cut throat vibe. However don't expect to get payed unless you bring a crowd, thats just how it is, it's business. Make good music, build an internet following, act professional, and bring people to shows thats how you move up the ranks in austin. At least thats what my friends and I are doing. |

I moved there when I didn't know anything, didn't have any experience, was idealistic and passionate. I left in debt, beaten down, unsure, but at the same time, with powerful memories, good examples, rich experiences.
It doesn't take much to remember. The smell of the old Antone's on Guadalupe near 30th St., pitchers of Shiner at the Hole in the Wall, all of the bikes locked to the fence outside of the Electric Lounge. Compared to most towns, Austin had such quality of bands on any given night, yet, I never felt more worthless and incapable living there. It wasn't Austin's fault but I imagine only Los Angeles, New York and Nashville has crushed more musicians. Something about the place...
When an Austin band comes through Albuquerque, I pay attention, pay my respects.
I've had a few beers-- thinking a bit, forgive me. |

What a great place to live. Fantastic weather--I always enjoy taunting my cold-weather friends in November and December! Fantastic food too! (Say goodbye to chain restaurants forever!)
So glad Moe Monsarrat mentioned Health Alliance: http://www.healthallianceforaustinmusicians.org/. Check it out for sure.
Hey, have fun! Hope to see you playing around town!

| Is this the "fantastic" weather you speak of?
The most severe drought in the nation is drying up one of Austin’s most treasured natural resources, the spring-fed Barton Creek Pool where more than 400,000 visitors from around the world flock each year.
The drought is dragging into its third year in parts of central and southern Texas. |

However, it just started to storm this evening! Let's pray for some solid rain, huh? We could sure use it. Barton Springs is one of the places that makes ATX so wonderful.
