Yes, you read right.
I'm opening for Thrice with my "band" November 16th at the Intersection in Grand Rapids.
I'm so ****ing excited.
However, there's been troubles in the water with the band. My brother (guitar), most notably. He isn't the nicest person in the world to me. My band's always been led by my other guitarist; he'll write something, we'll play along. This has irritated my drummer and I, we're trying to get our own thing goin. However, we just found out we got this spot opening for Thrice, two weeks out.
It's gonna be interesting. I'll keep updating here. This is mostly a blog; I can't stay off this site, and I felt this was the best place to put my thoughts.

How about having a band meeting and getting to the bottom of things are far as motivation for being in your band? Why is your brother "not the nicest" person to you? Is he this way to others or are you special?
Maybe you can explain more details about what's going on with each member of the band.
If you haven't seen these threads already, you might want to study it and see what you can come with as far as your band is concerned: Why many bands fail or If I only knew then... Check out the "Being in a Band" link below for more great TB info. |

Hopefully the rest of the guys aren't stupid enough to blow a great gig like that over stupid stuff....
Plenty of time to fight like rabid dogs AFTER you open for Thrice!!!

Our drummer completely backed out, guitarist lost all motivation. We couldn't do it.
Side note, Thrice is AMAZING live. And so was The Dear Hunter.
I've got a new band now, we do great work. Old drummer's still a pain to get a hold of. Thanks for all your feedback

Even if break up afterwards. Even if you can't wait any longer and break up DURING the Thrice show.
Its the kind of thing that makes for a great experience, one that's VERY hard to come by.

You are better off dude.
If my band got an opening slot of that size I would threaten them with everything I could to keep the band together for the gig. And if they backed out I would follow through with my threats and kill them both
Good luck with the new guys!
