Band name change.... "and the Cadillac Bloodmen"

Sign in to disble this ad
My bandleader wants to change my band's name from simply "Dick Cash" to "Dick Cash and the Cadillac Bloodmen".

The drummer and I are both against it, but the bandleader is pretty insistent and ultimately he is the 'star of the show' so to speak.

The band has been around for a couple years with the name Dick Cash and we have a new CD out and T-shirts with that name, but those things dont matter that much.

What do you think? Should the name be changed to "Dick Cash and the Cadillac Bloodmen" or simply "Dick Cash"?

If you could give me reasons for your opinion that would help in presenting my case to the bandleader.

Wait - is the is classic rock band that has the two hour load out and the bombastic drummer?

If so -

RUN - SCURRY - SCURRY - FLEE!!

If not, and you like playing with them, why not?

If you don't like playing with them, there are a lot of names using the singer's name that you could suggest upon quitting (sorry - couldn't resist).

I think I agree with this.

FWIW, it seems like he is trying to give more recognition to the band behind him. At least, thats what I get from it.

No, this is my roots rock & rockabilly band. I really like being in this band, good people, simple 3 piece, and the music is great.

A bit more info...

Originally when the band was being named it came down to a choice between "Dick Cash" vs "Cadillac Blood".

Dick Cash was chosen because Cadillac Blood was thought to be a bit too sinister and dark sounding. Didnt want people to mistake us for a metal group or something. However, personally I prefer Cadillac Blood. Its unusual and artistic.

A couple weeks ago the bandleader awoke in the morning and had an insight...

"and the Cadillac Bloodmen"

I thought he was called "Hootie" because the big glasses he used to wear made him look like an owl?

Or something like that...

No Dick Cash is not anybody's name. Its a reference partly to Johnny Cash and partly to the fact that gigging bands often make "Dick Cash" or not enough dough.

Bandleader was talking to a friend and friend said he had dick cash and was going home...

I've always wanted to be in a backing band called "The Infected Testicles".

Can you see the marquee?? "Dick Cash With Infected Testicles"

I'd just leave it the way it is if'n I was you. Dick Cash is 9 characters long. It'll fit easily on most any marquee any place you're likely to get a gig.

You'll have to abbreviate if you go with The Cadillac Bloodmen: DCATCBM
