Which band name do you like better?

Just out of curiosity I thought I'd ask for some unbiased opinions. My band has gone around and around with names and we finally agreed that we all liked a name with the word aether, both for its meaning and the way it would look in a logo.

In any event, there is a bit of split on which of the following is better:

Sonic Aether

Or

Stealing Aether.

What do you all think?

aeˇther : a medium that in the wave theory of light
permeates all space and transmits transverse waves.

I'd go with Sonic Aether.

PS: How about

Aether Waves

Aether Theory

Transmiting Aether

Aetherville

That was my original suggestion. The other guys thought it was too short and we later found out that there is/was a moderately well-known New Zealand prog rock band with that name.

My next suggestion was the full scientific term Luminiferous Aether which was (justifiably) tossed out immediately. We went through a bunch of other names and finally came back to Aether but the other guys (especially our drummer) wanted to add something to it.

That's funny anderbass because our guitar player suggested that name and I liked it too. But one of the other guys objected. I don't remember why.

Sonic Aether sounds good to me

Although if you were to play redneck bars with a country band, "Hoof Hearted" could work well

No band should ever use a word that references sound, rock n' roll, or partying in their band name. Ever.

The name game is fun... my band had alot of trouble with it too. The fun thing about the names you guys are considering is your "true fans" get to look down on the people who just jumped on the bandwagon, because they don't pronounce your name right.

I'm going to have to agree here. Time to start from scratch. Drug references are lame. You might as well be called O.D.

Drug references?

Did you read the definition that anderbass posted?

+1 .. I hate band names that seem to be referencing themselves. "Sonic Aether" looks like you are using the name to describe the band.

"Stealing Aether" lacks something as well..

A few suggestions off the top of my head.. "After the Aether" or "Beyond the Aether" .. "Aether Inside" .. "Aethernaut" .. "Aether in Me"

...
