Hey guys, I am in an acoustic trio consisting of two guitars and a bass. We're three normal dudes over 40 and this is a very easy going/not-too-serious project. Our tunes range from hard rock remixes and classic acoustic rock ballads to red-dirt-country-rock and some bluesy original material.
We are struggling with the band's identity. Please pick one of the four leading potential monikers shown in the poll: - Brain Terrier
- Dog Whistle
- Eric & The Eggheads
- Mudflap
Or maybe you have a suggestion of your own...we just might use it! I did not list "Carrots" because I already have a country/prog/punk duo that goes by that name.
If this seems like a desperate effort...well that'd be cuz it is.

For me, Dogwhistle or Mudflap. The other two dont seem to fit the idea your description draws for me.

Out of list, I would pick Mudflap. Brain Terrier sounds too punk, Dog Whistle sounds like a weird indy band and Eric and the Eggheads just sounds lame. I'd look closer to home, try to find something that ties you into the red dirt scene, maybe a small town name or a local park. If you're from Bug Flats, OK, something like The Bug Flats Band. Just my thoughts, my band went through this too. |

Problem is, we just can't find that obvious choice.
We have used one of these for a performance already but we're thinking it might need changed. |

Hipster Dog has a thing to say about Dog Whistle...
But to be honest, I think that's a really cool name. That's my vote. I just thought you'd enjoy that =p

Similar issue with Dog Whistle. It sounds catchy enough, but do you really want to associate your band with something that's so high-pitched people can't hear it?
Having said that, I like Mudflap the most out of the 4.

I never even thought of combining any of them together like "Mudflap & Dogwhistle". That does have some potential.
It's been a while since I was part of any band naming process. I forgot how miserable it can be. This has actually been going on for months. At one point we actually considered "Steven Segal" but decided against once we stopped laughing exuberantly. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
