Question This band wants me..

Sign in to disble this ad
In the wake a .L-R., my friends have offered me a gig. They are a similar style of music, a bit heavier, more groove oriented on the bass rather than riff (Which is more my style).

They play down the hall from the aforementioned band actually.
We all get a long really well, and the drummer and I click big time.

So bottom line, I like it, but need some persuasion. Its only been 3 days since i stopped with the other band. I want to know what the fellow TBers think of this band.

Trent! You left your last band? I remember the thread about how excited you were and how pumped about the future.. Im sorry to hear that man.

I didnt even have to listen to the music to say yes. You said everything you personally need to have to fit with a band, good friendship and a sense of what they/you want to play.

Im all for it.

Also, they are still defining the sound even more, and are working on a revamp. So they are ready and willing.

A musician never turns down a good gig. That's what separates pros from weekend warriors.

If it's good and they're ready and willing I'd go for it.

God Bless, Ray

I have personal matters at home that i need to tend too so I am not emotionally or physically able to go on tour anyway right now.

we just had alot of "musical and personal indifferences" like many bands do. No hard feelings at all Its better that way. I will still remain a friend to them.

Thank you for everyone at tb who helped me be the best bassist I could these past 6 months. Please check out LR on tour this july, and if there is anyone who needs a bassist in the nyc northern nj area please hit me up.

Much Love

I bolded the part from your other thread that I think is important. Should this be taken care of before you take on another band? If it's just a touring issue, and the new band won't be hitting the road any time soon, then sure, give it a shot if you think your personal matters won't interfere with the band, or the band won't interfere with your personal matters. Otherwise, I would recommend getting your personal ducks in a row before you jump into a new band situation.

Just proving to me that youre stating all of the positives, and looking for someone to talk you out of it.

You seem excited, go for it!

Well, it's a bummer to hear you got fired, but props for being so professional about it. I know there's a lot of people out there who would badmouth bands they got fired from; I used to play with a guitarist who badmouthed the singer/songwriter we played for behind her back 'cause she was too pop, even before she let him go...

You seem like a cool, professional bass player, so good luck, man!

i agree......though you don't seem as fired up about the new project as the last one..........if it's just being a little down about the previous gig and you feel that you will be up for the new one ,jump right in......if the other stuff is likely to affect the new project then it's probably not the time and all concerned would be better off if you passed....whatever way you go good luck.......they tell me there's some pretty good bands come out of joyzee

Not my kind of music but I like the sound. The singer (when he is singing) takes some of the edge off, which I like. Never been too keen on the "I sound like a monster escaping from hell" special-effects-voicing-thing but the band sounds tight.

The rest of the post is irrelevant. What we think of the band is irrelevant. Our persuasive comments, this band's proximity to your last band, the grace period before moving on...don't matter.

Ah, the ol' rebound band. Not sure if you can be the guy without the band, so you settle for whatever is lying around. Just kidding...doesn't sound like a rebound at all. Seems like you'll enjoy yourself. I'd say go for it if you dig what they're doing and who they are.
