I wonder if this is a good tool for musicians to hook up.
The Craig's List scene is just plain weird. Most of the folks I call are simply not serious, or treat me like dirt from the get-go.
So far only one audition with a serious band, one lined up, out of 10 contacts.
I'm not sure if most of the people posting on CL are serious at all.
It seems to me that since Bandmix makes you fill a profile, it's a bit more evolved, plus it has a good search feature.

I never set up a Myspace for myself before. Was wondering if maybe would be the time.

I am fine with working with an average one.
Unfortunately, with the American Idol syndrome, there are tons of shower singing idiots who show up on CL looking for a band.

When we were looking for a vocalist we got a few emails from CL and while most of them ended up being no shows we ended up with a very good singer/guitarist now that takes it very seriously. I put up a profile on Bandmix the same day I put up the CL ad and to this day haven't gotten a single email.

Eventually, hopefully, word will come around some enraged midlifer is playing a fat and heavy bass, but until then I have to use the Internet to get my first gigs...

In my area, I run into more folks on Bandmix who have found something and are unavailable, than folks who are actually looking.
At least with CL, the ads are current. |
