We've used a Sony with pretty good results. The main problem we had was that if the camera is placed too close to the stage, the sound gets distorted. I don't think the mic on the camera was designed to take the db's that the FOH speakers were putting out. Moving the camera farther back in the room fixed the problem, for the most part.

As far as the picture quality, I have no complaints on that at all. It worked great, didn't seem to get too messed up when the lights were going wild, and stayed pretty clear throughout the shows.
