| | | | last year i got the guys all something small, under 15 bucks, that related to their instrument that they could use. guitarist got strings, drummer got a stick bag that attaches to one of his stands, singer got a double mic attachment for his stand (that got screwed onto the mic stand so hard it never came off!)
this year, i took some cool pics of the band gear set up with a sign we use at our shows. gonna frame it and give it to the guys. |

Gift wise there was a funny bit. I was renting a 3 bedroom house with 2 of the guys in the band (singer and other guitarist) and our singer had been dating this girl who eventually became his wife. She used to kick him out of bed in the morning on weekends to get Starbucks, so needless to say we all found this funny.
That year our singer bought his girl a coffee pot, she bought him one, guitarist and his girl bought them one, so did bass guy and his chick, as did I. So for those not keeping track that's 5 coffee pots! 5! The best part is that none of us had said anything to eachother about it prior to the unwrapping of presents. So it was funny as hell when we went through the whole deal and each time it was their turn to open a present it was another coffee pot.
Should you buy your band mates a Christmas gift? Why wouldn't you? I guess if it was strickly a business arrangement or you're already planning on leaving becuse one of them is bein a d'bag then probably not, but generally speaking I would get my band at the very least a small goodie. You know thinks like sticks for drummers, strings for guitarists, stuff like that. Other wise they'll hit you up for the cash to get them anyway

We have an unwritten but strict no-politics/no-religion policy, so as far as the band is concerned, Christmas, Hannukah, Snake Whacking Day and all other Holdiays, are just days we can't rehearse. We don't really socialize outside of band activities. We try to be thankful for each other everytime we fortunate enough to be able to get together and play. I know that sounds corny, but it's true. Material gifts would be weird.
But we all celebrate ravenously with our respective families.

Order local from a print shop or online. |

My current item for this Christmas is a small mp3 player(I use) that will hold all 360+ songs we perform on it in one playlist in alphabetical order. They're about $20 per player x 4 members.
