Coed Dressing room

Sign in to disble this ad
Having a girl in the band is a first for me. I love it actually. We have a great act. Sometimes we have to share one dressing room and it isn't really weird since we don't have much time to change. Its hurry to change so we can relax. I'm single though and don't have to answer to anyone. Would anyone else have any problems with their S/O in this situation? Would anyone feel uncomfortable sharing changing space?

That's so easy to answer from your significant other's perspective, "Is she hot?"

I've had two girlfriends since I've been in the band and neither one had a problem with it. I think she's hot but that's besides the point. I would never point this out to anyone because it's not relevant.

The part about me being comfortable with it is she is like a sister. I don't look at her in a sexual manner at all. I don't even look at her dress/undress. She doesn't make me feel uncomfortable. For gig days I make sure I wear boxers and they are like shorts. Using this logic, I'm not shy at all about changing clothes in a room with any ladies in it.

Sharing dressing rooms is just a fact of life in show biz. It's like love scenes in movies.
My wife is a singer in a few other bands, so I live this from both sides.

Your relationship is either strong enough, or it isn't.

At least you are in a warm climate and dont have to worry about "shrinkage".

I really wouldn`t have any problem with it. I did marching band back in high school so I got pretty use to being half naked around people in tight spaces(buses) pretty fast. Having said that, girls at times would be a little uneasy with it, and as such I`d talk to the girl in your band about any concerns she may have or certain needs she may need met. As far as S/O`s outside of the band... meh. You see half naked women on tv all the time from Victoria Secret commercials so I would think it wouldn`t bother most women. Any of them who voiced concerns, however, I would think had some trust issues.

Why do you have a dressing room? I cant imagine a gig where I would need a dressing room (are you a kiss cover band?), much less one where everybody is half naked.

My last big band we wore stage outfits and we had dancing girls who wore stage outfits, so we all (over a dozen people total) had to cram into a dressing room and get changed at the beginning and end of every show.

On the one hand it would have been tacky to stare at boobs etc., and the polite guys didn't, but OTOH the girls were shedding clothes onstage anyway and used to it, so it was never really a problem either way. Besides we were all show biz family, it's what you do when you're putting on a full dress show.

Check the MySpace links - there's pics.

In response to the OP...
Whatever. Be professional (even if the whole band is only getting $40 for the night). If you get giggly about a half-dressed girl in the same room, it's time to grow up. You're there to do a job.

We mostly get multi-purpose rooms. We change/eat/hang out/store road cases, etc. here.

She is engaged to be married to our keyboard player at our next club date. We're doing a "Wedding Singer" themed show. It's actually a good vibe with them two. I stay out of the way. I don't date in the workplace. One of my stipulations upon joining was that their relationship success or lack of will not affect the long term success and goals the band. We've gone as far as setting a mission statement to keep focus of the goals so we don't lose sight of what we are trying to do. All is good in our band camp.

But yes I am single. I am "I just dropped a stripper off at her house 5 minutes ago" single. When I dropped her off she asked if I had a washer and dryer. I nodded and she said "we're going @!#$ tomorrow." I nodded again.
