Doors Tribute/coverband... Need Help with a Name..

Sign in to disble this ad
Here are my top contenders:

Next Door Down
Paisely Skies
Thru The Doors
Light My Fire
Door Jam
behind closed doors
universal mind
Doors Republic
Doors Of Fire

My favourites are Paisely Skies and Universal Mind.

Whatever the name might be, underneath the name will always be "In Celebration of the music of The Doors" or "A night of music by The Doors" or something like that.

If you have any band name suggestions I'm all ears.

Any suggestions?

Man, I've thought about doing this a few times and always wanted to call it "Crystal Ship".

How about Morrison's Revenge, Morrison Rising or something else with his name in it?
Or some other part of his lyrics: Night on Fire, Mystics and Men
Or songs: LoveMe2Times, Strange Days

IMO, Light My Fire would be my choice. Being tied in with one of their most popular songs would be a good thing. I would grab that name before someone else does.

Edit: A couple more: Son of Morris, Morrison Risen

maybe " Open Doors"

Night On Fire is also great.

Yeah, we have a singer now. He's a great vocalist, and knows his stuff better than anyone else in the band besides me. His stage presence is probably going to need work though.

There is or was a Tribute here in New England called Crystal Ship - I would google the names in the area you are looking to start up in to see if there any other Tribute with the name.

Light My Fire was my choice. First thing that came to mind - before looking at the choices.

Yeah, I saw The Back Doors about 15 years ago in Chapel Hill, NC. They put on a good show.

It seems like you could just read through a bunch of Morrison lyrics and find some good band names. (Or not... I just tried, and most of his best phrases are too long for a name. For example: "Meagre food for souls forgot.")

stoned immaculate is the name of a doors tribute CD. it is pretty good, a lot of good bands pitched in ( as well as some surviving doors!), and there are some interesting tracks. but, the doors are one of those bands that did their songs so well and uniquely that bands covering them don't always do so well. zeppelin is another example that comes to mind.

there is a track with william s burroughs doing "is everybody in?" which makes it worth it.

I'd go with light my fire. It gets the point across well and sounds pretty cool for a band name tbh.

then you're right on time as far as imitating the doors is concerned. supposedly jim morrison had to sing facing away from the crowd in the beginning 'cos of stage fright.
