Drummer can't agree on a name

Sign in to disble this ad
So i've been in the same band for about 3 years, and we've went through a number of names (NoOne, The Bobbalhedz, N-CATT), well we've finally graduated high school, and are starting to get much more serious about playing origionals, but we also decided that w/ a new vocalist, we need a new name. Our drummer never agrees with what everyone else does, and it gets difficult, because he helps make our sound unique. i dont know what to genre to call us bc our lead guitar-metal rythm guitar-punk bass(me)-lot of funk/punk drummer is a huge jazz/classical guy....so its a unique sound and we like it. but we cant ever find a name we agree on...some of our choices WERE Exit56, Silent Autumn, My Bulletproof Heart, Summer Secrets, Bad Elevator Sex, The Final Exam..and the list goes on. He has not liked one of those names, and insists we stay w/ The Bobbalhedz....no one else likes that name.....whats the best way to do this....we want to keep it a concensus...but should we just do a majority wins?

thanks

thats what i say, but thats what he insists on. I just dont know if i should tell him to just accept a different name...or find a new drummer.....which would be his little bro..who is just as good as he is

compared to your other names I can see why. If you are a serious band how about coming up with a serious and non-emo band name?

but if you fail to do that you can use one of my favorites

" Joe Banana and the Bunch, the Band with A'Peal "

Since when does the drummer get a vote?

How do you know when the stage is level? The drool is coming out of both sides of the drummers mouth.

What is the difference between a drummer and a savings bond? One will mature and make money.

How do you get a drummer off of your porch? Pay for the pizza.

Thank you ladies and gentlemen, I'm here all week. Please be sure to tip your bartender.

Tee Hee

Did you really get rid of a good drummer because he didn't like the new names?

no, he was musically going in a different direction than us. We want to be more of a post-hardcore band, where as he wanted us to be a punk/jazz band. That just wasn't working for us. We are all either 18or19, and he has missed one to many practices as well to either go hang with his girlfriend, or to drink. He's missed a show, so we needed a fill in drummer, because him and his lady friend were fighting. He had no dedication.

If dedication and musical direction were the problems, why did you start the thread complaining about his refusal to accept a new name?

Jazz/Punk? That would sound weird.

That would sound sweet, like some of Nomeansno's stuff. With jazz in the mix, the punk gets punker and the whole thing sounds genuinely much heavier with greater dynamics. To speak candidly, it sounds like all of your other possible bandnames are worse than Boblheadz or whatever (which isn't great to begin with).

Any name will do.
It doesn't matter.
The name is what you make of it.
The name "Led Zepplin" didn't mean squat untill the band made it mean something.

My friend and i were discussing band names the other day and i mentioned that all the new bands i've heard of just sound silly no matter what. pretty much any phrase between 3 and 10 syllables is a band name. just avoid having a number in your name it changes it from a band name to a screen name. i'm sure theres a generator in the net somewhere. also anagrams and palendromes are fun

Just so you know, I've been discussing this fact with a friend for about 4 years: There has never been a good band name over five syllables.

I Object! grasshopper Takeover(6 syllables) Is an excellent band, my instructor plays bass in the band.

myspace.com/grasshoppertakeover

Some of their new/old stuff, they're really great. To see lives the bassist is insane, he jumps around and stuff and really gets into it. He's a great bassist.

Also me and a friend had a great name: Sugar in the Bottom of my Cereal Bowl.(SBCB for short. )
