He used to host the same show on LAs Indie 103.1 station when it was still on air.

| | | | I am an electronic musician. I recently recorded a few songs with a singer, we agreed to split the money 50/50. I got us a really good record deal.
Now she wants to quit the project, she is kinda unstable, mentally. If I pay her, which I plan to do, do I need her permission to release teh songs? I have a feeling if I ask her she will say no. This is something I have put many months into finishing and it is my project she was just a guest vocalist.
I doubt if I sent her a contract form the label she would sign it. So can I just sign with the label and then pay her, her half of the money?
Thank you in advance. |

If this was Interscope Records (or even an indie with an ounce of sophistication), then that “record deal” is almost surely going to give the record company the right to release the records regardless of what Ms. Unstable does.
If Ms. Unstable hasn’t signed any paperwork, that’s not great news, but it may not be fatal. However, I first need to know who signed what and with whom and what it says regarding ownership/distribution rights.
Just a plain old someone without their own talk show,
MA
