Fired- and it's your fault!

Here on TB there's lots of stories about people getting fired from bands where it was their bandmates fault. Now I understand that some people are losers and they are in the wrong when they fire you, but does anyone have any amusing stories about getting fired when it was their own fault? Fortunately I don't, but I'd love to see yours haha.

How does one get fired through the fault of another?

I fired myself once. Kind of. I was starting with a wedding band and it was one soapy 80's ballad after another and I couldn't tell them apart. After about 4 weeks of it I called the band leader and suggested they fire me as I wasn't able (more will than skill) to tell the songs apart. So with some reluctance they did. We all lived happily ever after.

Read any of the fired stories here; it always seems to be someone else's fault.

It's usually Deluxe Red's fault.

Happens all the time, Insecure and/or lazy BL. Fronts that don't do their homework and show up to gigs unprepared and expect the other band members to "cover" their screw ups all night long.

I was fired because my econo-political ideology did not line up with the bandleader's.

I guess I can see that being an issue in a political band. We weren't.

I blame the drummer because that's what drummers are for.

I got fired for sleeping with my singers girlfriend. It really wasn't my fault, she was very promiscuous and smoking hot. So I can't be blamed for that.

I was fired once for "taking the focus off the vocalist". The singer hated that i moved around more than him and actually put on a "show". He felt i took up too much of his "space" on stage.

So yes, completely my fault.

I was fired once for pushing to play recognizable material so that we could actually get jobs. I guess that's my fault for wanting to play somewhere other than the basement.

I was kicked out of a band once because they just got sick of hanging out with me I think. They had grandiose visions of becoming big rock stars which I knew was never gonna happen with the skill level of the bass player and singer we had (I was the drummer). So I don't see that as my fault, but apparently they did. I was happy to go.

I must not be reading the same stories. I think in most of those incidences the person getting fired played more into the reason than they let on. Perhaps thats what you were getting at with the thread? That people are shifting blame onto others? I dont know Ive never been fired from a band.

Except in this case:

I think sometimes you get fired from a band because of the other people being douchebags. It's happened to me twice so it can happen.

There we go.

Sometimes it is however not anyones 'fault'.
Things just don't work out mutually,at times.

I got fired from a band once because I wasn't a good enough player. Simple.

Anyone else?

You know, reading the posts in the BM forum (and this thread in particular) had me beginning to think I might be the only one.

Never been fired but have quit a few bands. Quit one because one member was more concerned with getting high, quit another because hairspray and dressing like a fruit loop wasn't my cup of tea, and quit another because of a guitard with a douchebag attitude and me realising he wasn't as good of a guitarist as he thought he was.
