FIRST GIG!!!

WOOO!! Finally, my band got a gig. We're playing a social in three months. I know it's a small accomplishment, but I'm still pretty pumped. Any tips on putting on a good show for a bunch of drunk 20-somethings? How many songs should we be expected to know, things of that nature

pretty simple really...

how long is the social? will there be a DJ during your breaks?

I suggest you play a couple or three hour long sets....since most average songs are roughly 3 to 6 minutes in length your looking at 10 to 20 songs per set....

I suggest you learn to play a cross section of what is on the radio mixed with a few oldies and originals to please the crowd...or do they expect you to play all original material the whole time?

ah to be young again....and feel that excitement

Hope that helps...

Got a contract?
Have a decent p.a.?
How many songs do you know now?
What type of music are they expecting?
Venue indoors/outdoors?
Will you have to keep the volume down because it's a social?

Take a look at: If only I knew then what I know now...

An easy way around having to learn so many songs and to satisfy the crowd that likes to dance it to extend each song by playing it all the way through twice(or some such variation therein).
