I think I read a thread a while back where a poster was having problems with his band's name... And, others were asking for some of the ideas that had come up.
Well, my band's in a similar quandry... We've got our first "gig" at my friend's Halloween bash October 20th. He's asked us what name we want on the flier. Of course, we haven't picked one (mainly because we didn't think we'd have a gig so soon!).
A little about us, three of us are engineers (two mechanical (myself and our guitard), and one software - the drummer). Our singer is a CPA (yeah, strange mix I know). We live in the Detroit area, so I was really pushing for a Motor City/Muscle Car/Automotive type name. We've bounced off some ideas through e-mail exchange and getting together, but haven't really found anything that feels like "That's it!!!"... Although, we have one name that at least our drummer likes (he seems to be pretty picky). Our guitard is Russian (his name is Ivan), and has only been living in the U.S. now for about a year, so we also thought it might be cool to have a name with a little Russian flare to it - but that's not essential.
Anyway, I'm not about to create a poll with over 50 names in it, so, take a look at the list below, and let me know if there's anything that really sticks out and seems cool... Any ideas are welcome as well!
We're really just a cover band now, but we want to work on some original stuff... Some of the stuff we're playing (to give you and idea) Audioslave, RHCP, Clutch, Buckcherry, STP, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, mostly 90's and current rock...
I'm sure some of the names are taken, as some are sort of generic... Others came from episode titles of TV shows that we liked, and some we just created on our own... Please be cool and don't steal any names from the list until we pick one!!! I'll come back and post what we decide on once we can figure it out!
Here's our list (in no particular order):
