Can anyone answer this question- What is the purpose in using a Drum Riser? My drummer and I are not sure of the reason behind it. Thanks for your time!

Mostly to get the drummer up higher so the audience can see him/her better. Makes things look a little more "professional". Also gives the other and members a platform to jump off of, and a place to set their drinks, tuners etc...

And....it makes the drums sound better. It's like playing your bass rig on a hollow stage it will amplify the sound of the bass. For some reason a bass drum on a hollow risor also has the same effect.

The hollow stage would act as a resonance chamber - much the same way as the body of an acoustic instrument does.

Gives you somewhere to secrete your chord charts thus making you look like you know what you are doing. Works for me.
