Not the worst I've heard, but it has no redeeming value, so I say change it quickly and completely. Screw trying to modify it. Why? With no "name recognition" there's no value in keeping "part" of a bad name. That's like, "hey, I got this Yugo, I'll just put a Mustang engine it and it will be cool". No. You are just ruining the good part by associating it with the bad part.
If they insist on keeping a crappy name, they are not a band you want to play with, because they will continue to make crappy decisions like that through the "career" (or lack thereof) of the band. |

The worse the name better it sticks, just make sure you play really well. |

I played good but hung my head low and got oout of dodge as quickly as I could

Spend some time and try to come up with some other names first, but the name has to go, no doubt about it. I'd be surprised if at least one of the other band members doesn't hate the name too, so perhaps you could mention it to them individually and maybe you'll find an ally. |

But you don't have a position to suggest a change until you have been around a while. |

Also, "The Beatles" is a bad band name? That's news to me (and their hundreds of millions of fans). "Beat" was a big thing back then, and they used an interesting play on words to make it their own. Nothing wrong with Rolling Stones either. Kinks I could take or leave. Certainly, none of those is "actively bad" as the one in the OP is. And those are all LEGENDARY bands. If your band doesn't have John Lennon, Mick Jagger, or Ray Davies in it, you need to go with a name that's a little more safe and less likely to turn people off unnecessarily. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
