How about some really cool classic rock songs

Sign in to disble this ad
From the 60's & 70's mainly. Trying to put together a list of songs that you would rarely ever here a cover band play but are great songs that most people would know. I'm not worried about the talent level of my bandmates as they are all quite skilled & we usually can pull just about anything off.
I'm not looking for B side tunes that few people would know just some classic songs that people would say "I haven't heard that song in years".

The cover band I'm in is revamping out setlists. Currently we do blues/classic rock for the most part.

I'll start:

A Whiter Shade of Pale - Procol Harum

I figure with TB'ers input I could come up with dozens of great tunes that I wouldn't think of myself.

Thanks......

Free Ride is a BLAST to play! I loved the reaction from the crowd when we used to play it!

The Boys Are Back In Town is another of my all-time faves in the rock genre. We used to team it up with The Cowboy Song and the place would go nuts!

Use Me Up is one we do now- it has all kinds of room for grooves. Get it greasy, swamp grease from NOLA will do just fine, and let it breathe! Lots of room for pre-arranged punches with the riddim section too. For a real trip, try doing it reggae style...

All great suggestions, BTW. If I heard a band doing all those, I'd stay all nite! If I was IN said band, all the better...

Speaking of reggae style, I used to do a fun version of "Can't get enough" (Bad Co.) reggae style. It was pretty coolio.
Also used to do a funked up version of Smoke on the water.
