How far would you drive for rehearsal?

I am looking for a new band and have had some opportunities but they are quite a ways away. How far do/would you all drive?

I'm currently doing 40 miles. Not quite worth it at this time though (serious band issues).

It would depend on if it's a working band or not. It would have to be a financially sound venture for me. I would probably drive up to an hour in one direction if it paid well.

If gigging was my only job, then I would go wherever work takes me.

I live in the middle of nowhere so driving to practice is a given. I drive 30-40 miles each way depending on the practice location.

It's all about what's comfortable (and affordable) for you though.

An hour and a half, each direction. From one side of the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex to the other. Through 4 areas of "rush hour traffic."

I really like the gig.

With the way gas is now, I would say 15 miles (one way) max. It would depend on the gig to a degree too.

everyone in our band drives about 30mins to practice/rehearse. It's right in the middle of all of us. The best part is...it's called middletown where we play!

I think how far you drive is directly relative to your situation. The fact that you asked this question means you already know the answer. Did that blow your mind?

About an hour is my limit. If it's not a decent paying gig - 1/2 hour at the most.

A half hour away is my limit, unless it's paying. I've turned down many band opportunities because they have required 45 min to 1 hr one way for rehearsals.

I did 40 miles one way before, but it was a productive band with good practice habits. I also liked hanging with the guys too so that helped.

I currently have about a 40 minute drive to practice (and then back, obviously). About an hour would probably be my max, and it would have to be a financially viable project. The only reason I'm driving this far now is that I like the band's format, and the potential for well paying gigs seems good, so far.

Right now, its about a 30-35 minute drive for me to get to rehearsal, which can be a hassle. What is a mite stranger is that I'm going to jam with a band on sunday that is about an hour drive away from home. Just once I'd like someone to come to me for a change.

30 min bus ride to rehearsal twice a week. doesn't really matter to me, boston's public transport is pretty solid.

as far as gigs - well, a few weeks ago, we drove for 6 hours to play a 15 min. showcase, then got right back in the van, drove another 6 hours straight to a 4-hour, 3-set gig.
but we've got a good thing going, band-wise, so i'd pretty much do anything at this point, especially if it meant gigs on the west coast....

Its only a ten-minute drive to rehearsal. They live right down the road from us.

However...

Unless the band is, like, my dream band with just the perfect situation, yada yada, I won't drive more than 45 minutes to practice. Heck...for me to drive more than 30 minutes, it has to be so ideal that my fairy godmother would have had to put the band together.

Distance is irrelevant. You can get far in 45 minutes if you're not driving into the city. If you are driving into town, 45 minutes from my house is about 25 miles.

For me, its all about time. For me to drive more than a few minutes to practice, it has to be worth the extra time. If it ain't, I ain't goin'.

Kinda depends, dunnit? If you have playing opportunities falling out of the sky, then you don't need to drive at all. You just pick the one that you can walk to. If you are scuffling to get opportunities to play, then do you really want to turn one down?
