| | | | We're from Sacramento, CA. Our band is Push Button Four; we'll put up a facebook page. We've never had a show and are pretty ilegit as of now :P But hopefully that will soon change. I'll post the recordings on FB most likely. Do you have a band?

We recorded 6 songs early on at a home studio but we just recently got into a legit studio and recorded a song there. We're just waiting to get the mixed and mastered version back from the sound engineers. I'll check you guys out when you get that fb page up.

The trick is to figure out what motivates somebody to do what you want them to do, and offer them enough of that to make it a priority for them. Understand that it may or may not be the same as what motivates you, and it's possible that you may even have contrary motivations.
One of my fondest sayings is: People will sell their own children if they can get enough of what they want from the transaction (consider drug addicts, in particular as an extreme example, but not necessarily limiting). Your key, if you want to motivate somebody about being in your band, is to first figure out what motivates them. If that's something that you can offer, then do so. It may be that you can't, & if that's the case go your separate ways.

Keep in mind, the drummer is in the band, so per your statement, he does "want to", else he'd not be in the band. The truth is a good leader can motivate anyone, in that they know how to approach each person on their level and get them on board.

I'm with others here... Someone is either motivated to pull their weight in a band environment, or they're not. And I really don't have the time or energy for bandmates who need hand holding on that whole thing. |
