How much do you pay for rehersal spaces? My band is trying to see if we can afford one and what is a good price.

It depends completely on where you live. Real estate rent is possibly the most variable economic good there is.

Other factors are soundproofing, 24-hour access, security, whether you are sharing the space with another band(s) or not, what equipment is included, ingress/egress & location in town (this alone can change your price several hundred percent), etc... What we pay in various places around the world may have no bearing whatsoever on what it will cost where you are.

Hope this helps; sorry!

Still completely depends on location... A rehearsal space in New York City can run you a few thousand dollars a month for a shared space, one in rural Maine could be yours and yours alone for $60; both are in New England Even within the city of Concord, it can range from less than $200 to $1000 or more, a 500% difference. The neighborhood you're in makes a huge difference... location, location, location.

How far are you willing to drive, and what's your budget?

I guarantee that this won't be very helpful ....

I lived in Atkinson, NH (Rockingham County) from 1993 through 1998 and we had a rehearsal space that we rented in Salem (on School St, just off of Rt 97/Main St). 900 sf with a bathroom and very small kitchenette area, directly next door to an overhead garage door company. Monthly rent at that time was $450 all in (included electric, heat, water, etc).

Of course, that was over 10 years ago and real estate pricing has gone haywire since then, but you can maybe get a rough idea of what southern NH was like at that time ... BTW, 7 piece funk band, rent was taken directly out of gig monies ...

OP is looking for a private space (24 hour access, not shared)... A lot of practice spaces for rent have PA systems included and are soundproofed, some also have recording equipment & backline, some have drumsets, etc... It's really not a bad deal if you live in a bigger city, where real estate is too expensive for your own space, and bothering neighbors is an issue. I have an electronic drum set, a guitar POD, and a bass POD, for having rehearsals at home; aside from the vocals, it's virtually silent, and a breeze to record (everybody's running through headphones anyway, so you just plug a recorder into another output from the mixer).

I've paid between $250 and $375 a month for private, 24hr access rooms, in Dallas depending on the size. Hourly, backlined, PA provided rooms are about $15 per hour.

We rented a warehouse in the olden days for only $90 a month in the middle of a city in SC. It was small, but large enough for a PA, drumset, bass amp, guitar amp, two pedalboards etc. You can do it on the extreme cheap if you want. The downside was we had no running water, A/C or heat so I guess you get what you pay for. For a band starting out it's not a bad place to practice if nobody has a place that can accommodate a fair amount of noise.

Thankfully we have a house to play in now. Much more convenient and since it's the drummer's house she's just happy she doesn't have to move her kit each and every time we play.

Not exactly. New York is not part of New England.

I just found a cool office space that we're now renting for $100/mo.
We have the place every thursday after 6pm until whenever, usually around midnight.
We're trying to get some of our friends' bands to rent the place too so we can leave our equipment there (with people we know and trust)
Overall its not a bad deal. Its private, temp controlled, has a bathroom, and a front room where we can chill.

My band pays £21 (about $30) for 2 hours in a large room with a PA system and backline. Doubt that helps you but you did ask

Oops! Sorry 'bout that; that's me not paying attention. Well, the same applies to Boston.

We have a rare situation. We not only need our practice space, but we need parking as well for our Bus, 26' box truck, 12' trailer and 14 of us... Plus, our jam spot needs to house all of the stage gear and the Sound and Light equipment. So we rent a 2000 sq ft warehouse in an industrial area. Really cheap too. 24 hour access, heat, electric and we added our own security..

My band rehearses in NYC (Queens to be exact). We pay $500/month for a space that is fully ours, in a building that is pretty secure, with decent amenities (lounge area, restrooms, air conditioning....). Kinda nice not having to share a space, or play on studio gear.....BTW, there's four of us, so it comes to $125/month, not too bad.

Oops, misread the OP. My info is kinda irrelevant.....

Manchester, NH and we're paying $350 a month, can't practice until after 6pm weeknights. I feel like we're getting entirely ripped-off.

Just letting you know that I live in Concord New Hampshire and I can definitively say that there are NO rehearsal spaces for rent north of Manchester NH with the Exception of Franklin which is pretty far north. That said, the space in Manchester is kind of a cesspool.
