I was just wondering how often people rehearsed with their bands for me it would be once or twice a week. |

We used to do twice a week but that's when I was new to the band and we had a gig to prepare for.

But we are very tight, having worked together in various combinations over the past 10 years. When someone in the band wants to add some new tunes, we simply roll them out at our gigs. I would say that the jazz audience is probably more forgiving of this, than a rock audience. |

We would tone the Saturdays down to an hour or two if we had a gig that night. This was an originals outfit, though, with a lot of technically demanding bits. |

Both bands are fairly new together, so we're still learning material.

I'd love to rehearse a bit more for the fun of it, making it more of a social thing than plain work, but with busy people in the band it's often not possible...

We all hang out together all the time and share ideas, but I wouldn't call it practicing. Don't really practice any more than usual before gigs either.

Lately its been once a week at best, occassionally once a month due to schedule conflicts. When we have a gig to rehearse for, we try and rehearse once the week before the gig just to go over the tunes once through and maybe work on some new material. They last about an hour to two hours.

Covers? Thats what the gigs are for... I only choose to be in cover bands where the people are talented and mature enough to not need babied through the entire setlist.
Individual prep? At least 10 hours a week on technique. Whatever else I need to learn the songs.
