Congrats.
Yeah, he really screwed up the intro to that solo! Not sure what happened as he usually aces when we played it. Keyboardist was screwing up as well!

Unfortunately, the camera used to record was a an older Sony that records on tape or MemoryStickDuo. It was set to record on the Memory Stick (ran out of tape) and when it does, it lowers the vid quality to bare minimum.

All minor stuff - a momentary lapse, IMO. He (the guitarist) really cooked once he got going and especially at the end. But the main thing is the singer. You gotta have a strong voice if you're gonna cover Huey and he did a terrific job.

I thought the camera was ok it's just that the lighting was dark and and not a great angle. Also, if you were to use the video for PR I'd want to see a livelier crowd. But as far as I'm concerned the band was on. Great tune and well done. I'd go see you guys play.

Good points. The crowd wasn't really into us except for a few tunes. Rich snooty folks. Unfortunately, I'm no longer a part of that band (nasty breakup)! Neither is that drummer or guitarist! Band is still plugging away though. Video was from 2010.

I probably would have chosen "Hip To Be Square" but "Power Of Love" would work I guess. Just wouldn't be my #1 pick.

That was very well done. It's not really the hardest song to cover. It's a straight time four on the floor. If everyone actually learns their parts like you guys did, amazing how faithful it can sound.

I keep telling my band mates this, sometimes they listen.

The tough part is having a singer with some soul in their voice - which they did, IMO.

Yes! Every time we played it in a similar band it KILLED. Really work on the verses and allow the spaces to shine through. If you do it's a great dance song. Make it overly choppy (for lack of a better description). That really translates well live. But you would be amazed how well the Huey/ Back to the Future jams go over.

That's the tune I had picked to do. He wouldn't do it.

I wouldn't mind giving 'Heart of Rock and Roll' a spin.

Used to do "Heart of R&R" and "Workin for a Livin" back when they first came out

One tune I like that you don't hear much is 'Walkin on a Thin Line".

Just saw "Ghostbusters" on cable again recently (made my kid watch it). Remember the "I Want a New Drug" vs "Ghostbusters" theme controversy?

To further date myself - I saw Huey and the News open up for Loverboy

I'm convinced that the 'Ghostbusters' tune would be a huge success, especially for a Halloween gig.

That one involved litigation, and I believe was settled out of court.

And I must be in your generation, I saw HL&TN headline right after Picture This was released in a small theater venue, then a year later promoting Sports opening for .38 Special in an arena setting.

The small theater was much better, seeing these guys up close and personal is very impressive. They had outstanding execution and choreography back in the day.

I used to play Walkin' on a Thin Line when it was new and it went over well. Also used to play Jacob's Ladder and You Crack Me Up.
