When I joined the band(Blondiesque), there was already a name picked, but I can't stand it and I think we can do better. Frankly, when people ask me what the name is, I usually lie and say we don't have one because it's pretty embarassing. What should I do? The rest of the band acts attatched to the name as if it were their child...
Thanks

| | | | Just kick all their asses. My former band's name was Iron-E. They had it before i joined the band, too. It was the gayest **** ever, everyone just made fun of our name all the time. We were going to change our name to Arsonihilist, but we didn't for some reason. They still have the name. |

When it comes to picking band names, I came up with this idea for the current band I'm in:
BAND NAME MARCH MADNESS!!!!
Pick 32 random names and arrange them in four brackets of eight names, four pairs of two names facing off against each other.
This works, IMHO, because:
It is a great way to get 32 names together.
People have a hard time telling you what they like, but an easy time telling you what they hate.
You don't have to arrive at the final name by going all the way. You can stop when you have, say, four names, or eight names, and start your discussions from there.
Just thought I'd share,
Glenn |

Try make people listen to your music before telling them the name. Many of my favourite bands have a name that I thought was stupid at first |

| | | | Well, our band name is Foxtail Somersault. Yeah...
It's actually a somewhat appropriate name given our genre. But it's a mouthful, and my friends and coworkers always approach me and say, "So how's Foxtrot doing?" |

| | | | I suppose the more important thing is - is the music good? Or is it a bad band with a bad name?
I play for "Dell Smart & Exit/In". Not entirely sure what "Exit/In" is about but oh well, its freaking great music. |

| | | Maybe try going to this link, http://www.bandnamemaker.com It's a band name generator that plays off keywords and give you some options you can pitch to the rest of the band. If nothing else, it's a great way to kill some time.

I don't think people are gonna get at all what they expect hearing the name...I would prefer something more deadly sounding...haha..(I'm serious though) Like Chalked-Revolver(came from nowhere)
As for the music-It's awesome! And that's the whole reason I'm committed to being in the band. The music is unlike any I've ever heard and has a total universal quality. I feel like the band name is going to pen it in...
I am definitely gonna have to bring this issue up though...the band is on point everywhere but namewise...I think I'm gonna have to take up the merch design too...(haha-yet again, I'm serious)
Oh and I would take "Foxtrot" anyday. Thanks for everyones help and I will be taking your suggestions to heart.

We've only been playin a few cover gigs so we are trying to settle on something. When I joined it was Skullhunter. Huh? Then it was Crossfire. Wussy and sounds 80's . Then I suggested Chum Bucket (from SpongeBob cause my kid watches it). It's kinda gross if you don't get it. My guitarist wants to name it Meat Curtains. Be fun if I was 18, but we are grown men and it is offensive to most women. I want to name it Pushin' Up Daisies in rference to our ages. I mean c'mon, Meat Curtains??!!
