I think my band has been dis-banded

I was talking with the drummer in the band I used to play in (for nearly 10 years) and he said he had a new project going on with the band leader from our band, the keyboardist, the sax player and himself. They are playing basically the same set we were playing, the only difference is myself and the 2nd keyboard player/guitarist are out. No one bothered to give us a courtesy call or anything. Is this a case of major douchbaggery or am I just too sensitive? I could care less about folks doing outside projects but when one band is getting scrapped for another a phone call is not too much to expect.

Sounds like they didn't have the guts to kick you out so they sidestepped you. We did that to our singer, but he was volatile and just drove 50 miles in an ice storm to get to practice, didn't have the heart to just kick him out nor the desire to get into a fistfight.

Sounds unanimous then.

I'll vote for dimebaggerry as well.

3 of my 5 old band members went to start a side project, without so much as letting me know. Its no longer their side project, but their main band.

Happened to me too.

I introduced one of my fave guitarists to my last band.
Then drama broke out and I am out. I was mad since
they had agreed to one gig a month and that wasn't
happening.

A month later, after being 'let go', I was back in because
the bandleader had a show he wanted to do. We did the
show on August 8th and it rocked.

Now they have 5 gigs coming up. And no bassist. They
are trying to get my buddy to play bass, which he hates.
The regular wanker can't play bass, the bandleader, a
very accomplished keyboardist, is trying to figure out
if he can do my lines on the organ. Check the soundclip for
Shadow of Lies. Original surf music on organ doesn't
happen.

I am the only one I know that absolutely loves bass.
But pick up the phone and talk about it? Not happening.

The last phone call was the one I made. I decided I am
probably better off letting it go. Too much stress.

Screw 'em Thor! Put together your own band!

After those 3 seceded like that I just found replacements for them all, and now my band rocks 10 times as much!

Douchebaggery just don't quite cut it. How about Colostomy baggery?
Forget those hosers, you are better off without them.

I really had no clue, all of us have been involved with side projects and the bandleader fancies himself a local music icon and is involved with 4-5 different projects (this in and of itself presents problems). All of the projects used to be non competitive with our cover band but this band is doing the same set we do. What is unusual is that whenever I have done side projects the bandleader and the drummer get all offended that I did not call them for the gig, I never react that way. I figure these guys play with a bunch of people, why not? They seem to think they are entitled to be involved with anything I do. I am not going to get into a big unpleasant scene with these guys but I will not be available to gig with them either. I already have picked up two gigs for this one that I lost. I just don;t like sneaky people. They need to grow some stones nad pick up the phone.

I think not so much dis-banded but de-bassed.

That's pretty old school, there was some big band leader in the 40s who could never fire anyone, so he kept constantly breaking up the band, and then putting it back together less whoever was getting the axe.

You guys have been together for 10 years? Yeah, that's super-douchebaggery.

I'm sorry.

Yes, we have been together for 10 years. I've played many gigs with these guys; everything from large casinos that pay very well to absolute POS dives that I would"nt even care to go back to.
