Oh man. That is very cool! What a smooth dude.

I can't say for certain how/why this came to be, but if one wanted to make a professional film/documentary of a concert, they would use multiple cameras and probably have one each trained on individual band members for the duration (plus one to catch the whole stage, and maybe another to get audience shots and other miscellaneous stuff). The final film would be edited together from shots taken from the different cameras. As for sound, you wouldn't want to rely on the ambient sound so you would take individual lines out from the mixer channels and make your own mix of the sound for the final product; this video must just be the product of someone taking the time to pair the individual bass track with the footage of the camera that spent the whole time filming Entwistle. I bet he never thought someone would scrutinize his solo'd track from a live show!

Anyway, the sound is probably just a recorded track off the mixer board IMO later synched up with video.

Yeah that is from the Kids are allright DVD. I aint sure either how it was done but I am glad it was. The guy rocks and the DVD is a must own for any who fan. Good live performances and some funny interviews. There is also a great scene when John goes outside his mansion and shoots up some Gold discs. Turns out they were Roger Daltry's solo discs but meh funny anyway.

ive seen behind the scenes things done by the who around about 2000 when a guy was behind a mixer and would fade in just the bass or just the organ ect

Anyone catch the end? Where that chick practically pushes him out of the way to hug the singer? Ahh the life of a bass player...
