Kicking Out Problem...:S

Well our band is taking a new turn in singing. We've been looking for a new singer lately, (WHEN WE ALREADY HAVE ONE). We've been looking because our singer doesn't really suit us...he is a good singer...at...low stuff..But not our stuff.

We've found another singer but he said he gotta listen first then he'll decide. Hmm PROBLEM IS:

- Guitarist wants the singer out ...NOW!!
- How do we get rid of the singer because he loves this band?
- What happens if we kick him out and the new singer says no?

It's really annoying me atm.
Cheers, Ben.

Just tell him that his style isn't quite what you're looking for.

The easiest way is by having one person sit him down (ideally not at rehearsal or anything like that) and talk to him about it. If the new singer says no, it doesn't really matter because it seems like you're gonna boot out the current one anyway!

you don't have to fire him. Tell him the rest of the band is quitting and reforming. hehe

Over the years I've learned (and forgot until recently) that the best thing is to sit down and talk it out. Be very open and very honest with your feelings. You can sneak around, and tell lies, but eventually, you are going to have to have that talk. Get it out of the way up front. Remember not to insult or raise your voice. Have a nice conversation. A story....A few years ago, I was in a band that was looking for a new drummer. Instead of telling him, we were looking for a new guy behind his back. We put up an ad on craig's list or something, and who should answer, but our original drummer. Turned out, he was having second thoughts about the band too, and if we just talked to him, it would have gone a lot smoother.
