I'm not funny enough to contribute to this, but I must compliment you guys for keeping this joke going two full pages so far.

Correction: Three pages now.

Mustn't be a real musician then. If one has skills, and has taken the time to develop them, compensation is a natural expectation. That's how it works, in just about every field of endeavor known to man. Only in the realm of modern players does this skewed sense of market forces find so many adherents.

This could so easily devolve into covers vs originals redux, so I'll end with stating that I enjoy playing, and love getting paid for it.

Count me in.

I have a fear of commitment and cabs with mixed driver sizes and these are causally related

If Ludwig von Mises played guitar he would have said the same, most likely.

I always find it funny when arguments about compensation and 'market forces' are made - they are only relations peculiar to bourgeois society, masking its underlying social cohesion as acts of individuals with some silly notion of having to earn your share coupled with a sense of entitlement. Ah, contradictions...

I wonder if the native tribes of the Amazons or Africa knew anything about your natural expectations before colonialism hit them hard in the face, guv. So much for general statements.

Even in many primitive societies, the one who hunted and killed the beast was/is given first rights to the meat. Similarly, the ones recognized as the best warriors are also given higher social station. Recognition for heightened skills/abilities is inherent within man. In industrial and post-industrial society, that recognition, more often than not, takes the form of monetary compensation.

It is what it is.

I had one of my students post this from our lesson today with his phone.

You can't afford to have me post here, much less me posting using my computer.

Not really into original threads these days. They don't draw a consistent crowd...but I gotta give you guys credit...your material is impressive.

If I were 10 years younger, I'd be in, but at this point, I'll stick with the established cover threads.

(Best read I've had in awhile. Thanks for the literal LOLs! )

Tell me more about the load-in/load-out of the practice forum.

Any posts that require me learning new words will require more money on your part, as well.

I am most comfortable as a pocket poster, and I won't even do that unless I get a minimum of $150 just to open the web page.

Well, I can post here, but only on Thursday nights. I'll need a months notice to post on a weekend. Except for today, but I'm just doing you guys a favor...

P.S. I might be able to post every weekend IF you have a smoking hot singer babe in this thread.

Whoa....I just figured out who the drummer for this thread is. Can't do it man. I swore I'd never work with that guy again. Let me call my backup and I'll see if he can post in here for you.

You forgot to mention how doing studio work for local drug store jingles alienates us from our species being and how playing Sadowsky's is the habitus of the elite bass player class.

More on topic, with this start-up thread, we're going to be covering some interesting songs. Too many threads are covering all of the beat-to-death stuff, so we've put together a threadlist for this thread. It includes...

-Peel the Paint (Gentle Giant)
-Survival (Yes)
-2112, all parts (Rush)
-The entire Train of Thought album (Dream Theater)
-Birds of Fire (Mahavishnu Orchestra)
-Carouselambra (Led Zeppelin)
-Apostrophe (Frank Zappa)
-Borg Sex (Joe Satriani)

We know that the general bar crowd is going to enjoy our self-indulgent threadlist since they're probably sick and tired of hearing Blister in the Sun and Jesse's Girl; we expect to be booked up to 12 times a month in no time.

I'm waiting for someone to open the corollory thread, aka the Band Whores Club.

Thats for the ones who will play any songs, with any band, if the price is right.

I'm not taking any number lower than 100. If you want me to post more than once, that'll be extra.

I was just trying to help out a friend and lay down some posts to help with his thread, but since this thread seems to be taking off a little, I think I should get some compensation.

I know there are some signature posts on there, and I know a few of my posts affected the feel of the overall thread so I should also get some writing credits as well.

And if you guys try to use any of the letters or sentences in this thread outside of this thread, you'll need to pay me a royalty.

being an in-demand mercenary bass player might be as close as we doughy middle-aged dudes ever come to knowing what it's like to be a hot chick.
