Myspace Coding Help anyone??!

Sign in to disble this ad
Just wondering if there's anyone around who can give me some help with myspace layout coding. I can do basic stuff (mostly I grab the crappy code generated by myspace pimping pages and change images, fonts, etc), but I'd really like a little help making my band's layout better.

Specifically I can't figure out how the heck to get a banner image along the top, a la this band here - http://www.myspace.com/egostarmusic

The rest of the layout I could probably jury rig, though if there is a better way of doing this than just copying some other site's crappy code I'd be interested to hear about it..

I can kind of offer some help...

Myspace is a complete and utter pain to work with. A big part of my day is coding css and I can not stand myspace at all.

pm me and i can look at the code you've c&p and see if i can fix it up a little for you. But my honest opinion is to pay someone. My local craigslist has one or two people that will do a real nice one for pretty cheap. -I did my own band, but you couldn't pay enough to do it otherwise.

I'm with vagus....... coding sucketh. I do both my bands' websites, my own, and the assorted myspaces.....and myspace to code.

Right now I'm coded out so I'm not sure where they put the code snippet to get their banner. You might try dropping them a message and asking them......along the lines of "I was checking out your myspace, your music is (insert appropriate positive phrase here), I like your layout. I was wondering if you could tell me how you were able to get your banner in the position it's in?". You never know, they may be able to tell you! Oh, and don't forget to add as friends etc .

If I could make a suggestion about yours..... in your "about" section, the second paragraph is very choppy. You might have someone rewrite that for you with some transitions between the sentences (leaving the idea the same, it's funny!). Honestly though, your layout looks pretty good! One question- What's up with the (rough) on the track names? Sound pretty decent to me!

I forgot to mention -- Use firefox and get the webmaster tool bar add on - It has at least a hundred useful tools, great for reverse engineering a site and testing new code.

You can highlight tables and div and see the names. You can also open a window and see all the css and make changes to it.

I also use it to "fix" bad sites i like - like remove annoying backgrounds, ads, poor contrasting colors...
