Does anyone know how I can upload an mp3 to the internet so that I can put a link to it and have the listener be able to click on the link and hear the mp3?

I've tried googling mp3 hosting sites. I get to where I do the upload, then nothing happens.

I really don't know how it works, I guess.

Does anyone else do this? What site do you use, and how do you do it?

Here, this site is always good for mp3 hosting: http://www.supload.com/free-audio-hosting

Just put your file in the box and upload

Thanks, everyone, for taking an interest in my problem. I went to that supload site, uploaded the mp3, then it started to play.

But I couldn't find a link to copy to embed into a word document.

What am I missing?

Did it start playing in a player embedded in your browser, or did it load up a media player on your computer? If it was an embedded player, the URL would have been up in the address bar of your browser. Even if it wasn't an embedded player, SOMEWHERE on your account at the site will be a way to get the URL to your file. Just log back in and look for where it tells you what you've uploaded already. Check their Help files if you don't see anything that strikes you as being the URL.

From the way you describe it, the player must have been embedded in the browser because no media player or ITunes opened up on my computer.

I did copy the link up at the top of the page, and I got to it.

Now I have to figure out how to embed it into a Word document and get it to work after I turn the Word document into a pdf.

Does anyone know how long that file will stay on supload?

I didn't have to apply for an account, tell them who I was or anything.

Thanks.

Ah. Well, I can't tell you how long it will be up, as the site gives no initial indication of how long they keep stuff up. Perhaps it's buried a bit deeper, but I don't know.

Word should automatically turn any URLs you put into it into hyperlinks. If it doesn't, there's a button to turn any text into a hyperlink (so that instead of showing http://... blah blah blah you can just have a link that says "Song title" and when clicked on takes you to the song).

Where are you going to be hosting this PDF that you can't simply upload the song to the same place? You can e-mail files to others if it's just going to a friend or two, and if it's for a website you can host the MP3 on your own webspace.

GC13, thanks for all your help. I finally got it to work the way I wanted to.

I send out a company newsletter each month, and I thought that it would be nice to send out anmp3 of one of my band's songs to my customers.

If you're interested in hearing it, hear it is. It's a holiday country tune (we're a jazz trio so that makes it even funnier.)

The holiday is Groundhog Day.
