Negative Album Reviews!

So we sent out our album all over for review. They are finally starting to trickle in.

All in all, the feedback everywhere has been pretty negative. The guitarist and I were bored at work and started a few "Does our singer suck?" threads (one here on TB), and got over 60 responses knocking him!

I guess we have a lot more work/thought/energy we need to throw into this to really put out something professional and mature.

Here is my favorite kind of negative review (very well thought out and I agree with it)-

There are a plethora here-

At least no one is knocking the bass playing.

So, I'm guessing you're sounding a bit like Tool, then?

Overall, that wasn't such a bad review. Keep pluggin'!

re the 1st link, it's not a glowing review, but there were a lot more positives than negatives. The last line "Already, though, they have established an advanced level of professionalism, as evidenced by the quality of Bury the Facade's sound and packaging (designed by and featuring the artwork of Left Brain guitarist John Allen), and of the band's promotional materials." is very nice IMO.

I believe reviews are best left up to the buyers...not people who like to do reviews...There's always at least one reviewer that won't like whatever you put out...and there's always someone who would call your band a bunch of hacks. Never take what a reviewer says to heart...

I would say it's not about the album reviews... it's about the audience and how they rock out at a show.

People actually care about what album reviews say?

Word of mouth definitely wins out over any sort of official publication, so I wouldn't worry too much. I personally really like your songs - the only thing that irritates me is the snare sound, but that's a really hard thing to get recorded properly so you're off the hook with that one :P

If your singer sucks, give him the boot

But all in all, that first review wasn't bad, but the stuff they quoted from you like "orgy of styles" and "searching for the new" sounds very hackneyed and corny.
