It’s no secret that I am passionate about performing live again and have been engaged in the local audition scene.
We all know that this is no fun, however since I have received so much cool support and ideas from TBers, I want to share some of the results and progress I am making. Maybe it will help some of you that are new to auditioning.
As some of you know, I got close to landing a spot.
I had a 2nd call back on my last audition and I almost made it, but the gig went to the “other guy”.
Never burn your bridges, send back a “thank you” e-mail, no matter how you feel. Sometimes local really means local and you don’t want any bad karma associated with your name when your actively auditioning.
I was lucky the band that auditioned me was extremely professional, it came down to a decision between two guys and they felt the other guy was a better fit for the band, but they liked me and my playing.
They actually knew of another opening and pushed my name out there. I received this letter this morning; Following up on the earlier e-mails from our bass player ad...Lisa form The Fangs sent me a message or 2 last Thursday/Friday that you were still looking and interested in checking out our band. For some reason I thought you may not have been interested in our project...
Just a refresher, were you in the The Out Numbered at some point? I spoke to someone who was, just don't remember for sure...Anyway, we're still looking and can probably get something lined up within the next week or 2. We backed off the process a little because we thought we had our guy, but that fell through.
Anyway, did I ever send you any lists or anything as of yet? Let me know and I'll get something together for you and we'll get something lined up. It's been a busy past month or so and I don't remember who got what, when!
Thanks
It’s just an example of why it’s important to stay cool, which I'm not famous for. |
