Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but I figured that marketing and band logo/image and graphic design would be under here... right?

Ordered the business cards today.
Designed by me
Poster pics soon (when we get another gig)

Looks great.

Two suggestions:
use "and more" instead of etc.
use Current & Classic Rock instead of using "Rock" twice

Nice design job.

On the face of it the "you hum it, we'll play it" strategy makes you ripe for many more opportunities to play. From a marketeer's point of view it's a big mistake!

Marketing 101, pick your target market, if your target market is "everybody" you get nobody.

I like it too. I have one suggestion.

Remove the quotes from we love and encourage audience participation.

The quotes make it seem like a cheesy motto.
But if thats what you're going for...

Wow guys, those are all changes I'm going to make next round of printing and in the posters. As you can see with this first round, we are just 'learning' how to promote to a larger audience.
Great points! Thanks for the tips!

Nice work

Get a real website URL

Remove the word "can" passive voice doesn't sell confidence

The word "encourage" doesn't sound like you're in party control or audience inspiration

I agree with the post above, that you're almost making yourself sound too much like a jack of all trades, so it would be easy to think you're mediocre at everything but a master at nothing. Since no modern rock gig is gonna want to hear disco, and no country gig is gonna wanna hear your non-country originals, I'd split yourself into, say, 3 gig genres and make separate business cards for each segment.

I know that may not be feasible, as printing these things costs money... maybe pick which ones you want to really focus on and highlight them (like Current, Class, & Original Rock Music) and somewhere else on the card say "We also play Country and Disco!". Maybe thats a bad idea too... you just gotta figure your gig is gonna be targeted and focused, and someone setting the gig up wants bands that feature that genre in the forefront. If I was booking you for a rock gig, I'd be concerned you'd try to throw in some disco and country!!

I think I've learned more in this one thread than in the past 6 months of playing live and figuring out how to 'promote'.
