NEW Songs to add to a Top 40/Classic Rock Setlist

Sign in to disble this ad
Any ideas for rockin' newer songs to play? My band plays everything from Green Day to ZZ Top to the Police to U2 to classic rock.

I really like the new Springsteen song Radio Nowhere as an example.

Recent ones we have added are RHCP's Hump da Bump and Finger Eleven's Paralyzer.

Any current ideas?

Anyone recommends Mustang Sally, I shall slap them.

I Feel Good

MUSTANG SALLY!

For real, I enjoy some Edgar Winter Stuff.
Frankstein and Free Ride are fun.

Jet - Cold Hard Bitch

Or

Buckcherry - Crazy Bitch

I'm not sure why I have a 'bitch' theme going with my suggestions, but I'd bet both tunes would go over quite well live.

...or you could try playing Brown Eyed Girl

I did "Video Killed The Radio Star" in my last band.

I've been thinking that "Hey Ya" from Outkast would be a great song to play. It's really nothing but bass and vocals if you strip it down. There's a lot of room to play with in there.

Actually, they do! I don't know why, but chicks especially like to dance to those two songs. Like getting called a bitch is a good thing or something.

We actually learned Moondance by Van Morrison, played it once (almost perfectly) at rehearsal, looked at each other after playing the song and decided never to play it again. It just wasn't us.

These aren't exactly sparkly NEW, but if you're playing ZZ Topp, you'll have that foreground/background thing working for you:
  • Arctic Monkeys--I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor
  • Kaiser Chiefs -- I Predict a Riot
  • Louis 14th -- Finding Out True Love is Blind
YMMV, but we find the girlies like to dance these around.

Funny, we just added Paralyzer last week.

Pretty Vegas is a good add, as well as anything rockish that appeared in an IPod commercial.

Uh, that's Cold Hearted Bitch by Jet. Not Cold Hard Bitch.

The band I used to be in played that. Pretty good song, fun to play.

All My Life from the Foo Fighters

Blinded by the Light (just so you could say 'Wapped up like a douche'

Mother by Danzig

Rainbow in the Dark by Dio (will be hard for your singer to pull off the awesomeness that is Dio though...)

What it's Like by Whitey Ford

I've always wanted to do Just Dropped In by Kenny Rogers, but it might be kind of hard to pull off
