Next Goal

Ok. Saturday I got to realize a goal of mine that I had since I started playing 28 years ago. Alpine Valley Music Theater in East Troy, WI has been the sight of hundreds of dearms and concerts for me. This last Saturday, I put my bass on and stepped onto that hallowed stage for the very first time. I closed my eyes to concentrate on our set, but had enough sense to savor the moment and look out to see what I had been looking onto for most of my life. I was on my stage of dreams. From the lawn seats of the venue, the place was bigger than life, huge open stage with room to roam and perform. When I got onto stage, I felt like a giant, the place looked like I had been on that stage a thousand times before.
What an awesome moment to experience and live. Now after chasing this dream for 28 years, I have to sit down, evaluate where I am with the band, and figure out "What Next"

Deer Creek is very similar to Alpine Valley. A couple of years ago, I did the Alpine-Deer Creek shows for the Dead. What an awesome experience. I think Alpine is a little bigger and the hill is much steeper!

Congrats on achieveing your goal! Must have been an awesome feeling! Now, imo, it's onwards and upwards. No time to rest on your laurels! LOL A new goal needs to be set.

Our band is playing mainly original music. Ever since I joined the band last December, at my urging, we have set goals. Without goals it seems far too easy for 6 or 8 or 10 months to slide by and have nothing accomplished. Plus I am 43 years old and did not want to waste my time with a band that could not get anything accomplished. Thankfully that is far from the case with our band. We have set and met numerous goals for ourselves this year ranging from recording a 3 song EP to playing gigs to ordering T-shirts.

Good luck in achieving whatever your next goal might be! Mammoth world tour maybe???????

That's awesome, Gnome! That stage has seen all kinds of magic. (I hope, though, that you didn't hop into your helicopter to get home.)

No choppers for me from Alpine. That is a memory I wish I did not have. Standing back stage, you get a good look at where it crashed. Just crazy...

Actually I am thinking that I would like to now play this stage 4 times in one year! I think that is where the goal goes. Bigger - More than 50,000 seats?? I would settle for 3,000 people who really get what we do ;-) Now that would be a party!

wow! in what capacity? Boy, I went to a lot of concerts there as a kid - Rush, Cheap Trick, Journey, Billy Idol, REO Speedwagon, to name a few.

That must have been really cool.
