Whew.

Last weekend's gig I got miffed beforehand. I got to the gig an hour and 10 minutes before showtime, and due to circumstances of the day, that's about as early as I could get there. So I find that the PA hasn't even been unloaded yet. I expressed my displeasure at this, since we always seem to be "test test testing" up until the minute before showtime, and often start late, trying to get the PA dialed in.

So I was miffed. One of the singers went off on me. OK, maybe I deserved a dressing down - in private. But it wasn't in private. People in the bar had to have seen and heard it.

Now I found out the drummer is quitting. He's been agonizing for months over going to this other band permanently, now he's made his decision. He says it didn't have anything to do with me being unhappy about the situation the night of the gig, that he had already made up his mind.

We have a new guitarist, who was unsure about coming aboard in the first place, because he wanted to come into a stable situation (I had given notice I was quitting in Feb., but was asked to stay, so I said I would stay). If he was expecting anyone to quit, it would be me, but now... He is not going to be happy.

Let me guess, they always wait around for you to lead the setup of the PA and do everything, right?

Either talk to them and tell them how you feel, or just quit this band. They sound like slackers, if this incident is an indication of how they normally act.

Actually, no. I'm kinda new to this being in a band thing, and I don't know much about PA gear, yet.

But I do other things to help. For instance, I help load in & out, and I usually help the drummer pack up his gear after the show, since he has the most to deal with.
