Band is dead now.
It was a long time coming. After everybody backed me up and I was ready to kick his butt to the curb, they changed their minds.
That was the beginning of the end. Another guitarist had a kid as well. And we basically took a 2 month break. So they could do what they needed to do at home. A few practices here and there.
We had a great practice last week. It all fell apart today. Somebody couldnt make it. Then they could. Then somebody had to reschedule. blah blah blah.
Whatever, lead guitarist calls me and say "Bad news, bands done dude."
Point and case that I had no input or say to what was going on in the band. I did make a comment about how I didnt care and all I do is wait around on you guys hand and foot to play YOUR songs anyway. I had to get a jab in there somewhere haha.
I think we were all burnt out anyway. All these practices and no shows, helped take a toll. Everybody wanting to play different stuff, but not trying to make it work together. Myself included. But most of the style I wanted to incorporate was just left in jam stage, and never touched on again.
In truth it reall sucks that its over. But on to new possibilities. This happening also made me realize I was to comfortable. and that I really need to practice more. And learn how to compose and be more confident in my ability.

Any ideas of what I should be learning? Jazz? I'm going to get a teacher and learn theory for sure. Now that I dont have to drive and pay for practice anymore
I'm tired of following guitars around the fretboard.

Tricky. Learn stuff you really want to learn, be it techniques (slapping, tapping, pick- or fingerstyle playing) or songs you like (in any genre) but beware: sometimes if you find yourself with time enough to do what you want, you end up doing nothing.

Set some goals, like 3 songs in 3 days, or a difficult song in a few weeks, or a scale a day or something. And definitely find a teacher. What little theory and techniques I learnt, I had to pick most of it up from books and the internet, and I would have been a much better player much faster if I would have found a good teacher (I did look, but sometimes they are hard to find).
